Project Overview
The SALES project increased rural employment and incomes in Malawi by spurring the growth of private sector agriculturally linked enterprises. Making Cents worked to strengthen the capacity of local service providers to deliver quality and targeted business skills training to agribusinesses throughout the country. To that end, we assessed the training needs of institutions and entrepreneurs; adapted training curricula on business development activities and other appropriate enterprise activities for their clients; and delivered business skills training for entrepreneurs. We organized trainings in Blantyre and Lilongwe to introduce the curricula to a cross-section of private sector actors, such as local consulting firms, producer associations, microfinance institutions, and donor-funded projects and programs.
