Empowering Cocoa Households with Educational Solutions (ECHOES)
The World Cocoa Foundation
Making Cents developed a livelihoods curriculum and training for out-of-school youth in cocoa-growing communities in Ghana to help youth better understand the role of cocoa in their communities, the cocoa value chain, and non-farming business opportunities related to cocoa. We also developed a series of cross-cutting cocoa content learning modules that supported core education contexts, such as social studies, math, and history in US schools for grades 6-8, and linked youth trainers in target communities with US middle school teachers by developing an online learning community. The online platform has been providing unique teaching and training resources and facilitating a fruitful exchange between US educators and youth trainers in the cocoa-growing communities.
